The Citizens Police Academy class (that Mom got Phil and I into with her) continues to be exciting and fascinating. Here's Mom trying out the Glock handgun at the Carmel Police Dept. Gun Range at class Monday night.

Here are Phil and Mom checking out confiscated cocaine, hash, marijuana, and mushrooms the week we had the class on drugs. The various things dealers use to try to hide drugs are amazing. We have a few more weeks of class before our graduation.
Here's the weekly Bible study group that Mom and I are in at Summer Trace together. It is really very good. Mom has a new giant print King James Version Bible with index tabs.
Here's Mom wrapping up physical therapy before taking a summer break. This photo shows her throwing and catching a ball with both hands. This is a huge accomplishment considering that she couldn't use her right arm at all after the stroke! Unfortunately her right hand is still compromised. She can't knit so much anymore. We are going to try crocheting again. Writing is elusive but she continues to practice. We got some left-handed scissors and Mom has no trouble cutting out coupons and articles.
Here's a balance ball exercise Mom enjoyed as balance and mobility are something she has always worked hard to maintain.
Speech continues to be a challenge but it hasn't slowed her down. She has made many, many friends in the year and a half she has been at Summer Trace in spite of the great difficulty she has speaking. Tonight at cards we were all trying to think of the name of someone and Mom said it right away. She knows exactly what she wants to say. Her speech therapist thought a hearing aid would help make communication easier. We checked into all that and it is just so expensive. Below is a picture of Mom using something we are very excited about. It is her new rechargeable "Stealth Secret Sound Amplifier." I saw it in a Sky Mall catalog then got it on amazon.com for $35! Now several other people at Summer Trace want one, so we are giving out the info.
Mom is not in the picture taken this particular week! But this is the children's reading group that meets at Summer Trace.
And there's always cards every Wednesday night. Here's Phil entertaining the girls!
Here are Kings-in-the-Corners card playing "regulars" Mary, Charlie, Mom, Jan, and Betsy. Jan is a long-time friend of mine who became a Certified Nursing Assistant after she retired from her job. She has a big heart for serving people in need just like Mom does. She has been a strong support to us both in the three years Mom has lived in Indiana, as have other friends!
Mom is doing really well and things are good.
We are looking forward to more fun ahead this Spring.
So thankful for so many things. Praise God.
