Jan Cohn's Visit July 2010

Mary's granddaughter (my niece), Jan Cohn, drove down from Chicago with Abbey, who is in training to be a therapy dog. Summer Trace arranged an apartment on the 1st floor for them which was great. I was amazed, though, how well Mrs. Whiskers (Mom's cat) and Abbey got along! Jan took Mom out shopping and to Macaroni Grill for lunch. She joined us for the Tuesday afternoon Bible Study again (she's been before). We had dinner together and - while David, Phil and I got card night started - Jan and Mom took Abbey outside for a game of catch. When they came in, Mom fed Abbey popcorn until Jan got her snacks! Jan went with us to a medical appointment and we took Mom shoe shopping. It was such a blessing to have Jan and Abbey here! Enjoy the slide show. Click arrow to play. Seminary Park Concert July 26, 2010

We returned to Seminary Park for an evening of Jazz and sat with Melissa and her two Brussels Griffon pups, Daisy and Sebastian, who are people magnets! Really great weather. So relaxing and peaceful!

Seminary Park Concert July 18, 2010

We went to see Big Skies Big Band perform July 18 and met Melissa, who has two Brussels Griffon pups. Good music, good company! Then back home to Mrs. Whiskers!

County 4-H Fair: Goats and Kids

One of the (many) wonderful nurses at Summer Trace is Amy Martin. Mom has enjoyed spending time with Amy's sons, Brody and Roon, and frequently asks Amy about their activities. Thursday we had the opportunity to meet Amy and her sons at the Hamilton County 4-H Fair in Noblesville to see their 4-H projects. Mom had a wonderful time! Brody was Mom's personal tour guide for this wonderfully compact fair. (i.e. not a lot of walking.) We also ran into some other friends from Westfield, the Shoemaker's, who have a sweet new baby in the family. When we got back to Summer Trace we had to check on the jigsaw puzzle we have all been working on in the 4th floor lobby. It was completed! And we found Mom's cat companion, Mrs. Whiskers, contentedly surveying the world from her favorite perch on her pillow on the sill of Mom's bedroom window overlooking the pond. Bible Study at Summer Trace

The Bible Study went great today. Our topic was faith in the midst of suffering. Dr. Randy Alcorn's book "If God Is Good" was a wonderful resource tool. Plenty of great Scripture references and examples.

Our teacher, Joan, was away and I was so glad to have Brenda to "team sub" with me.

Evan, former soldier now college student, brought Mom's dog buddy, Pete, who took his usual place by Mom and snoozed through the study.

Afterwards, Mom and Gladys (age 99) enjoyed feeding treats to Pete. Click the arrow to watch the movie below.

Band Concert in the Park

Nothing says "Summer" like band concerts in the park!

Sunday, July 11th, Mom and I thoroughly enjoyed the first Seminary Park band concert of the season in Noblesville featuring the Lapel Community Band (with guest conductor a Lt. Col. who recently retired from the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps in Washington, D.C.!) Mom had THE BEST TIME!

AND we were totally blessed to run into Mom's faithful friends from Noblesville PEO, Debbie Frankel and Lois Schleuter!

Mom finally got to meet Debbie's friend, Dr. Tom Ley...

and Lois' husband, Stan. What a lovely evening!
