Miniature Horses Visit

I got this family photo today from my niece - Mom's granddaughter, Rebekah (my brother's daughter). She and her husband, Mike, are the proud parents of two bouncing baby twin boys for whom we all prayed fervently throughout her perilous pregnancy. It is SO good to see this photo of their happy family!!! Thank you dear Lord!

New Friend from India

Tonight at card night we met a young woman, Ramla, who just moved to the U. S. two months ago from India to do computer work in Indy. She lives in the new apartment complex next door to Summer Trace. After walking to the Meijer store, she stopped at Summer Trace to meet her new neighbors. She said she misses her Mom and Grandmother back in India. She sat with us while we played cards. We discovered that she loves cats AND she knits! (Whereas I am allergic to cats and can't knit.) Mom and Ramla became fast friends! I gave her a schedule and she is coming back for movie night on Friday.

Butler Students Knitting Assist

Three of the Butler University Speech students (who know Mom through the Aphasia Group) visited Summer Trace April 14th to help with knitting. This was Kristin Simko's first experience with the "Hats of Hope" knitting project. Ashley Cofield and Elizabeth Stoner had helped with "Hats of Hope" before.

It was a great time of intergenerational bonding.




I really appreciate these girls.

After knitting, the girls came up the the 4th floor and checked out the puzzle we have been working on. (It's one I found at Goodwill.)

Aphasia Group Butler Students Graduating

The April 12, 2010 Aphasia Support Group meeting was a very special one. (And yes, the meeting was postponed a week due to Butler being in the NCAA Final Four Men's Basketball Tournament! They put Butler on the map!)

Many of the Butler University speech students (who Mom has become friends) with are graduating this Spring. From left are Kristin, Mom, Elizabeth and Ashley.

Before finishing up for the night, the girls made arrangements to come to see Mom at Summer Trace for the next knitting group on April 14.

Cats Rule

When Mom and I took Mrs. Whiskers back to the vet to have the stitches in her declawed front paws removed, Mom had fun meeting this little vet pet napping in a basket in the lobby.

Speaking of cats, I found this calico cat jigsaw puzzle at Goodwill for the Summer Trace 4th floor lounge:

It is exquisite because it has some pieces that are cat shaped.

I got started on the puzzle while Mom and her friend, Peggy, sat nearby listening to another resident's visiting sister play old show tunes on the piano, also in the 4th floor lounge.
