Another Great-Grandchild for Mary

Wyatt, born to our oldest son, Chris and his wife, Tamara, on August 14 this year, is the youngest great-grandchild for Mom. Through the wonderfulness of the internet, I was able to share photos of Wyatt with Mom on a computer in the library at Summer Trace. She enjoyed that so much! Her family continues to grow...

Mom and Dad had 4 children: Gail, Chuck, Sarah (who died almost 10 years ago in October 2000) and me, Betsy. Our spouses add 2 sons-in-law, Bill and Phil, and 1 daughter-in-law, Cyndi.

Then Mom and Dad had 10 grandchildren: Erik, Jeni, Rebekah, Nathan, Micah, Jan, Rob, Mike, Chris and David. Those who are married add 7 spouses to the mix: Katy, Scott, Mike, Kara, Scott, Shelley, and Tamara. Add Micah's girlfriend, Anna, and that makes it 18 "present and accounted for" (so far) in that generation.

Now Mom (Dad died 18 years ago in May 1992) currently has 16 great-grandchildren: Madison, McKenzie, Kelsey, Eliza, Brianna, John, Lucy, Stephan, Tre, Mikah, T. J., Jayda, Henry, Eli, Isabel, and Wyatt. However, Nathan & Kara have one-on-the-way, so that will soon make 17, which would require a banquet table of 42 if we were to have a reunion with Mom and her collective family after that baby arrives!

Puzzle Night

I could not take Mom to the concert in the park today because my August hay fever has kicked in. So......Mom and I ended up investing some serious jigsaw puzzle time with Al in the 4th floor lobby at Summer Trace!

Short Hospital Stay

August 9th brought us a bit of a surprise hospital stay. Thank you to friends and family for your encouragement and support and prayer during this time. In the picture below, our friend, Jan, and Mom are looking through the aphasia communication book Kelly Potter (who works at Summer Trace) made for Mom.

Mom and Mrs. Whiskers were so happy to be reunited upon Mom's return to her apartment at Summer Trace August 11th.

The cat wanted to be right next to her. She was patting Mom on her leg like she was just making sure she was there and everything was okay. She is such an excellent companion. Thank you again to my neighbor, Sally Marchand Collins, for sharing her cat with Mom undefinitely.

Seminary Park Concert August 1st

Phil joined Mom and I for the Barton Rogers Big Band Concert at Seminary Park in Noblesville Sunday evening. Another beautiful Indiana summer evening!
