Evan, the young man who just finished his second tour of duty in Iraq, brought his dog, Pete, today. Mom sat with Evan and had Milkbone dog treats for Pete.
Evan (above) is the next door neighbor of Joan (in orange shirt), who has been coming in every week to lead the study for years now. Joan is a cancer survivor who is totally passionate about the Scripture and has an amazing memory of Scripture detail.
Tom, our dear paralyzed fireman, read aloud today and is so-o-o into the study and so happy to be there. We love the gal from the Health Care side who takes the time to bring Tom and others over for the Bible Study every week. (She also brings her dog to work once a week for visits.) Tom's elbow surgery was a success and he can raise his right hand to his forehead!
After the Bible Study, Mom and I got out and about for a bit. We went to the grand opening of a new Goodwill store and found some bargains. Then we went to Michael's where the manager helped us find a leather strap bracelet Mom can use to strap a crochet hook to her right hand. Then we went back to Summer Trace and found that there was popcorn leftover in Raspberry Harry's, which is always a treat. Mom got some interesting stuff in today's mail from her daughter, Gail, about her job as a chaplain at two senior living centers in Pennsylvania. Later this week Mom's granddaughter, Jan, will be in Indy teaching at a seminar downtown. Our son, Chris, will be in town with his wife, Tamara, and their three children, Mom's great grandchildren. So it will be a fun weekend!!!
